|Title||106 Beaufain Street (Carrie Steinmeyer House)|
|Object Type||Property File|
|Scope & Content||
Constructed ca. 1880. A female member of the Steinmeyer family, owners of extensive real estate in this area, built this simple 2-story side-hall-plan house just before 1880. A banded parapet shelters the house as well as the double-tiered, Tuscan-columned piazza. A simple Italianate style doorway adds the only decorative element to the 3-bay facade. Mary Marshall apparently built a similar dwelling to the east at 104 Beaufain Street at approximately the same time. A gable roof and 2-over-2 windows are the major differences in this contemporary dwelling, sold in 1881 to Johanna Matthiessen; Rosen and Associates inspection report (1995).
